Philip C. Heidkamp, 80, of Columbus died Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. Born in Chicago, he resided in Columbus for 32 years. Phil was a graduate of DePaul Academy in Chicago and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was the owner/operator of Local Lawn Service in Columbus prior to his retirement. A perpetual optimist whose wit and humor charmed all who met him even in his final days, Phil loved children, gardening, woodworking, the Buckeyes and a good story. He took great pleasure in the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren, but most of all loved spending time with his beloved Jean, his wife of 56 years. Son of the late Herb and Mary Heidkamp, Phil was preceded in death by brothers, Herb and Bob Heidkamp and his sister, MaryLou McCall. In addition to Jean (Eiberg), surviving are his children, Ellen Foglia (Tony) of Voorhees, N.J.; Amy Hiestand (Mark) of Hamilton, N.J.; Philip (Tammy) Heidkamp of Farmington Hills, Mich.; Mark (Patty) Heidkamp of Columbus, Janet Heidkamp of Worthington, Nancy (Joe) Tanney of New York and 9 loving grandchildren whom he adored. Also surviving are his brothers Frank Heidkamp and Jerry (Donna) Heidkamp, sisters Rosemary Cramer and Marjorie Heidkamp, BVM; sister-in-law Joan (Tom) Donley and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 AM, Saturday, June 19, 2010 at Our Lady of Peace Church, 20 East Dominion Blvd., Columbus, OH 43214. Family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Friday at RUTHERFORD-CORBIN FUNERAL HOME, 515 High Street, Worthington, OH 43085. Condolences to www.rutherfordfuneralhome.com
