Obituary:
HESSLER Norman Edward Hessler, passed away Sunday, June 13, 2010. Born on the 27th of May, 1924 in Orange Township, Delaware County, Ohio. Norman proudly served his country as a United States Marine in the South Pacific during WW II, earning medals and comendations from both the U.S. and Filipino governments. He is preceded in death by parents Clarence and Dorothy (Foster) Hessler, his wife of 34 years, Ruth (Linnabary) Hessler, brother Earl Hessler, son-in-law Marlin Howe, granddaughter Faith Ann Hessler. Survived by wife, Joyce R. (Miller) Hessler; children, Patricia Howe of Little Rock, AR, Dan (Carol) Hessler of Westerville, Suzanne (Keith) Thomas of Little Rock, AR, Janien (Greg) Severance of Worthington; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; step-children, William (Shirley) Miller, Shirley Baransi, Mary Miller and Susan Miller; four step-grandchildren; brothers, Paul Hessler, Ronald "Pete" Hessler; sister, Donna (Don) Griever; sister-in-law, Carlene; and special "parade friend", Cindy Six. Norman attended Riverside Bible Church, he was a past Commandant and life member of the Belleau Wood Marine Corps League. He retired as an Insurance District Sales Manager. He volunteered at and was past treasurer of the Service Board at Riverside Methodist Hospital. He was a regular attendee of the annual Orange Township High School Reunion and attended many M.A.G. 24 Marine Reunions. Family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at the RUTHERFORD-CORBIN FUNERAL HOME, 515 High St., Worthington, where a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday. Interment to follow at Pioneer Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Norman's memory to the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, 18251 Quantico Gateway Drive, Triangle, VA 22172
