Obituary:
Elsie Mae Hatfield Plummer, passed away Monday, May 31, 2010 at Delaware Court Nursing home where she had lived for more than five years. She was born September 25, 1907 in Celina, Ohio to Joseph J. Hatfield and Rosa Etta Ridenour Hatfield. She married J. Harold Plummer on March 23, 1928 and he preceded her in death in 1955. They had three children, Evalyn, Jimmy and Carol Jean. Jimmy died in 1951 and Carol Jean Cupps died in July, 1994. She is survived by her daughter Evalyn (Eugene “Andy”) Anderson, of Delaware, Ohio; son-in-law Norman Cupps, of Chillicothe; grandchildren: Vicky Cremer, Debbie (Joe)McMillan, Bill (Denise) Anderson, all of Delaware and Jim (fiancé, Lisa) Anderson, of Hilliard, Ohio, David (Ross Ewing) Cupps, of Lexington, KY, Cathy (Bryan) Fagg, of Beijing, China; great-grandchildren: Elizabeth (Craig) Zemke, of Chicago; Brian and Mike McMillan, of Delaware; Christopher (Aimee) Anderson, of Canton, Ohio; Zachary Anderson, of Delaware; Samantha (Jay) Kerr, of Delaware; Benjamin (Jill) Anderson, of Columbus; Nicolette Anderson, of Athens, Ohio; Jeannie, Darren and Trevor Fagg, of Beijing; step-great-granddaughters: Lisa and Paula and their families of the Chicago area; and one great-great-grandson, Douglas Zemke, of Chicago. Elsie was owner/operator of Plummer’s Trading Post, in Powell, for 32 years until she retired to travel, bowl and play cards with her friends. She missed seeing the people that came into the store. Elsie was an active member of Powell United Methodist Church since 1941. She taught Sunday school, Vacation Bible School, was church treasurer for 20 years, active in United Methodist Women and was lay delegate to Methodist Annual Conference at Lakeside, Ohio. In November, 1941, Elsie joined the Liberty Rebekah Lodge #247 and was active until the lodge closed and joined with Delaware. She received the Decoration of Chivalry in 1975. In addition, Elsie was a member of Celina Chapter #91, OES, Celina, Ohio. Family will receive friends from 2-4 & 6-8pm. THURSDAY at the RUTHERFORD FUNERAL HOME AT POWELL, 450 West Olentangy St., Powell, Ohio 43065 (614)-792-1471. (The funeral home is located on W. Olentangy St./Powell Rd./SR 750 ¼ mile east of Sawmill Parkway.) Funeral Service will be held 10:00am. FRIDAY, June 4, 2010 at POWELL UNITED METHODIST CHURCH with burial following Friday afternoon at Swamp College Cemetery, Celina, Ohio.
