Obituary:
Richard “Mixer” Allen, age 65, of Powell, Ohio, passed away Friday, May 28, 2010 at Dublin Methodist Hospital. Born in Troy, Ohio to the late Hazel and Herbert Allen, Richard was a graduate of Sidney High School, Class of 1962. He was a graduate of The Ohio State University where he played football for the Buckeyes and was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. In addition to his parents, Richard is preceded in death by his sister Susan Allen and his mother-in-law and father-in-law Sylvia and Roger Borchers. Richard is survived by his wife of 28 years, Cynthia Allen; brother and sisters: Marsha (Virgil) Temple, of Dublin; Margaret “Peggy” (Michael) Holt, of Sidney; Jon (Anna) Allen, of Sidney; and Julie (Pete) Thompson, of Troy; nieces and nephews: Meagan Temple, Kimberli Temple, Neill Allen, Erica Allen and Nickolaus Thompson; great-nephew Sebastian Allen; and many friends. A member of Varsity “O” and Scioto Reserve Golf Club, Richard was also a long-time ranger at Safari Golf Course. Richard was an avid animal lover and is survived by his dogs Chase, Sammie and Dannie. Family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00pm. WEDNESDAY, June 2, 2010 at the RUTHERFORD FUNERAL HOME AT POWELL, 450 West Olentangy St., Powell, OH 43065 (614)-792-1471 where a Memorial Service will be held at 7:00pm. with Deacon Frank Iannarino, officiating. (The funeral home is located on W. Olentangy St./Powell Rd./SR 750 ¼ mile east of Sawmill Parkway.) Private family burial will be observed.
